The Parable of the Rich Fool (Luke 12:16–21) is a powerful reminder that richness is not defined by possessions. True wealth is found in being rich toward God—in faith, divinely oriented wisdom, humility, relationships marked by charity, and love that reflects God's self-giving nature.
The rich man is not condemned for being wealthy or for harvesting abundantly, but for placing his trust in earthly goods and failing to acknowledge God as the source and goal of life. His inner monologue—filled with self-centered phrases—reveals spiritual isolation. His entire vision is inward-looking, ignoring both the will of God and the needs of others.
He assumes he has many years to enjoy his wealth, but God calls him a “fool” and demands his life that very night, revealing that true security lies only in being “rich in what matters to God.”
